Directions from Interstate 95 (Route 128)
Take exit 30B, Route 2A WEST.
Follow 2A past the entrance to Hanscom Air Force Base, heading toward Concord Center.
At the fork in the road with a flashing yellow light (where 2A continues left), bear RIGHT, following the sign, "BATTLE ROAD APRIL 19, 1775 HISTORIC CONCORD"
From this point, we are 1.4 miles on your right, .7 mile from Concord Center.
Please park in The Wayside Lot on Hawthorne Lane, across from The Wayside.

Directions from Interstate 495
Take Exit 29A, Route 2 EAST.
Follow Route 2 East into Concord and go half-way around the Concord Rotary [traffic circle] (i.e., take the second "spoke" off the "wheel" of the traffic circle).
Quickly get into the left lane of Route 2 to turn LEFT at the traffic light immediately after the Papa Razzi restaurant and Best Western hotel, which will be on your left. Bear RIGHT onto Elm Street.
Follow Elm Street until it ends and intersects with Main Street.
Bear LEFT onto Main Street.
Follow Main Street until it ends at the "green." ( The red Wright Tavern will be on your right.)
Bear RIGHT onto Lexington Road.

Continue following Lexington Road, keeping left at the fork in the road with Cambridge Turnpike (the Emerson House and Concord Museum will be on your right).
In approximately .5 mile, Orchard House will be on your left, on the corner with Alcott Road (if you pass The Wayside, you have gone too far).
Please park in The Wayside Lot on Hawthorne Lane, the first right beyond Orchard House.

Via Public Transportation
Orchard House is a 1.2 mile or approximately 20-minute walk from the MBTA Commuter Rail (Purple Line to Fitchburg) located on Thoreau Street

Parking

Parking in front of Orchard House is very limited, and is prohibited on Lexington Road and the side street of Alcott Road. Please park in The Wayside Lot on Hawthorne Lane, one block from Orchard House.

Handicapped parking is designated both in front of Orchard House and in The Wayside Lot.

A crosswalk from The Wayside Lot is available for your safety and convenience.

Accessibility

Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House, a National Historic Landmark dating to the early 1700s, is first floor accessible. An introductory, close-captioned video is offered, and a photographic guidebook to the upper floor is available for those who cannot climb stairs.

Written scripts of a very basic tour are available in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish, and Esperanto. Several of our Staff are also trained in American Sign Language.
